Research & Development
Our 30 years of tooling manufacturing knowledge, and use of state-of-the-art machinery, allows us to provide high quality tooling solutions validated with accurate computer-generated data.
We have a dedicated R&D facility where we design and test our new range of cutting tools for difficult-to-machine materials.
Are you working with a material that is causing you tool failure? Materials such as Inconel, Stainless Steel and Kovar?
Our expertise includes:
- Machining advanced materials such as advanced alloys, Additively Manufactured (AM) materials, Controlled Expansion Alloys (CEA’s) and composites.
- Design of specialised cutting tools based on material properties and material micro-structure which can be extended from one material to another through mathematical modelling.
- Recommending tooling and machining solutions to tackle your needs as fast and as cost effective as possible.
R&D Centre
Our investment in a Eumach V16 Machining Centre specifically for tool development has allowed us to experiment with all aspects machining on a range of materials and applications. The installation of computer controlled optical devices allows us to track and record wear on our tools to effectively measure tool life.
As a result, we have successfully enhanced the performance of our cutting tools through the use of different carbide grades, coatings, edge preparation and specialised geometries. We work closely with coating suppliers and we can recommend a solution specific to your needs.
We can also offer technical assistance on the selection of cutting speeds and feed rate for individual tools to reach maximum performance and decrease machining times. We’re happy to visit you at your premises, discuss your problem and help you find the best solution for your specific application.
We take particular pride in our ability to identify and create key multi usage tools that are more time and cost effective in the long term for our customers by combing multiple operations in a single cutting tool.
